Huntsville, Brace Yourself
The reality of having to move to what might as well be a foreign land is fast approaching. The moving company hired by my new employer, BOEING, had a guy at my place to look at my (relatively) small amount of belongings. They company will be back this Wednesday (march 22) to pack the stuff up, and again on Thursday to load it all on a truck, and move it.
I will be driving for Huntsville myself on that Friday (the 24th, exactly one week before I start with Boeing). Right now my plan, in my head without talking to anyone, is to stop in gville and go to dragonfly, because ive never been, and watch the Gator Basketball game. Theres a chance I may be persuaded to stay in Gainesville to watch the next gator game after that also…
After that, I plan in stopping over in Atlanta; maybe lifting some weights and playing some ball with my friends that live in that area. Then I have to get into Huntsville, and find a place to live, which won’t be very hard, there’s lots of nice apartments for not too much money.
anyone wanting to visit Huntsville, and if you are reading this you are invited indefinitely, you will have a place to stay at my place, I’d love to have visitors, especially if it is to see me :-).
Moving to a new place where I don’t know people is kind of intimidating. I will be in Atlanta and elsewhere fairly often at first I bet, just to hang out with people I know. Lets not even talk about the culture shock of moving into the Deep South, even if Huntsville has more PHd’s (per capita) than anywhere else in the country. Huntsville itself is a lot like Gainesville, but I doubt its politics and general demographics align well with Gainesville, despite the physical similarities with G’ville.
